Reliability and affordability are often the two top criteria when purchasing a new car. But when push comes to shove (or, more appropriately, the pedal comes to the metal) which car models can you really trust?

Below, we’ll explore ten reliable car options for 2026, and why they might be a good fit for you if you’re in the market to upgrade your vehicle.

    1. Toyota Camry

Toyota is one of the most reliable brands in the market. In fact, it has recently taken the top spot in terms of brand credibility consumer reports survey. Similarly, the Camry is the highest-ranked midsize car in the recent J.D. Power 2025 US Vehicle Dependability Study.

    2. Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius is one of the most reliable plug-in hybrids, getting up to 57 mpg. This makes it a great vehicle for daily driving, long trips and long distance travel. There are no major changes in the pipeline for the 2026 model.

    3. Toyota Corolla

It should come as no surprise that the Toyota Corolla also made the list of most reliable cars for 2026. Changes for 2026 are minimal, which means fewer surprises for buyers looking for a reliable, affordable vehicle.

    4.Subaru Forester

The next brand on Consumer Reports’ reliability list is Subaru. The Forester EyeSight excels in reliability and safety features with driver-assistance technology and all-wheel drive. The year 2025 was the first year the Forester had a hybrid option. For its 2026 lineup, Forester is adding a Wilderness off-road model for adventurers.

    5.Subaru Impreza

Since the Subaru brand ranks second on Consumer Reports’ reliability list, the Impreza also made its top ten list. The Impreza hatchback is smaller than the Forester, but its all-wheel drive packs a bigger punch in reliability.

    6. Lexus NX

Lexus ranks third on Consumer Reports’ reliability brand list. This is not surprising since Lexus is a subsidiary of Toyota. The NX is the perfect vehicle if you want a luxurious ride without compromising on quality.

    7. Lexus RX

If you’re looking for a little more space, the Lexus RX could be your next purchase. The RX was the first crossover SUV from Lexus. The RX was last redesigned in 2023, but its reliability ratings remain consistently good.

    8. Honda HR-V

Honda ranks fourth on Consumer Reports’ brand reliability list. Even though the HR-V is not as old as many other Honda models, it still comes with similar reliability standards.

    9. Kia Sorento Hybrid

While the Kia brand itself ranks tenth on Consumer Reports’ list, the Sorento Hybrid has a strong reliability track record. a separate consumer reports study The Kia Sorento Hybrid was listed as the most reliable three-row SUV.

    10. Hyundai Elantra Hybrid

In last place is the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. The Elantra Hybrid’s fuel economy is up to 54 miles per gallon, which is ideal for the daily commute. Additionally, it has a solid warranty to cover any unusual defects.
