Krispy Kreme turns 89 years old this week and the popular donut chain is celebrating by offering customers deals on its most iconic menu items.

On Friday, July 17, customers can get a dozen Original Glazed Donuts for just 89 cents with the purchase of any dozen at regular price at participating U.S. stores, the company said in a news release issued July 14. There is a limit of two dozen per customer in store and through the drive-thru, and a limit of one dozen for online pickup and delivery orders.

“Every Krispy Kreme birthday is truly a celebration of our fans,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme chief brand and product officer, in the news release. “Offering Original Glazed dozen for only 89 cents is our way of saying thank you to guests who make Krispy Kreme a part of their celebrations, traditions and everyday sweet moments.”

The company’s story began in 1937 when founder Vernon Rudolph opened the first location in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Krispy Kreme says curious passersby began asking Rudolph if they could buy a hot donut directly from the bakery, which led Rudolph to cut a hole in the exterior wall and serve fresh original glazed donuts straight from the sidewalk.

Krispy Kreme unveils Girl Scout Cookie-inspired donuts

Krispy Kreme’s latest flavor inspiration comes from Girl Scout cookies.

The donut and coffeehouse chain has a trio of new donuts inspired by Girl Scout Cookies, now available for a limited time at participating stores nationwide.

According to the company’s news release, the donuts, available individually and by the dozen, are “perfect for sharing with friends, bringing to the office, or simply treating yourself.”

“Girl Scout cookie flavors are iconic for a reason,” Holder said in a statement. β€œRe-imagining them as donuts is a fun way to introduce those familiar favorites to fans in a completely new and really unique way.”

The arrival of the donuts may satisfy cookie lovers’ annual sweets craving, as it’s the offseason for Girl Scout cookies, which are typically sold from January through April β€” though local drop times vary by troop.

The new limited-time Girl Scout Cookie Inspired Dozen includes these three recruits:

    • Coconut Caramel Donut: An original glazed donut dipped in chocolate icing and topped with coconut and caramel (inspired by Samoas and Caramel Delight Cookies).
    • Thin Mints Donut: An original glazed donut dipped in chocolate icing, topped with Thin Mints cookie crumbles and dark chocolate chips and sprinkled with mint green icing.
    • Lemon-Ups Donut: An unglazed shell donut filled with Lemon Crisp cream filling, dipped in lemon-flavored icing and decorated with a bright, lemon-inspired design.
