Amazon is giving away free groceries for a year — here's how to enter

Are skyrocketing grocery prices putting a strain on your budget? Amazon has just announced the return of their four-day Prime Day event — which will take place from June 23 to June 26 — and they’re starting off with a major giveaway.

From now through Monday, June 22, customers who spend $15 or more on eligible online grocery orders at Amazon will be entered for a chance to win free groceries for the entire year. Amazon is also offering summer deals on BBQ favorites starting at just $3, as well as seasonal dishes like $1 red cherries, $1 hot dogs, and buns and sweet corn for 4 for $1.

How much is Amazon’s free groceries for a year?

Amazon’s “Free Groceries for a Year” sweepstakes is a promotional giveaway launched to celebrate the return of Prime Day. To help shoppers cope with inflation, Amazon is giving away a total of $1 million in prizes divided among 100 randomly selected winners. Each winner receives the grand prize of $10,000 in Amazon.com gift cards to be spent on everyday household needs and food through Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and select local market retailers. The entry window runs from June 2 to June 22.

What counts as a qualifying grocery order?

Qualifying orders include online purchases of $15 or more made through local retailers such as Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Now, or participating Amazon online marketplaces.

How much money will you get if you win?

Amazon is giving away a grand prize of $10,000 to a total of 100 winners, which will be distributed in the form of Amazon.com gift cards. This works out to an average of about $833 per month for spending on groceries and everyday household needs.

Does shopping multiple times a day get you more listings?

No, the entry limit is the same per day, no matter how many separate $15+ grocery orders you place in a 24-hour period. However, entries are released weekly, so entering once a day from June 2 to June 22 maximizes your chances in three different drawing periods.

    When are the winners announced?

Winners are selected prior to the event and announced weekly. The sweepstakes is divided into three separate weekly drawing periods between June 2 and June 22. Non-winning entries are automatically transferred to the next drawing period.

    Can you enter without purchasing?

Yes. You don’t need to make a purchase or even have a Prime membership to enter. You can enter daily manually by logging into your Amazon account and using the “Click to Enroll for Free” button on the official offer page, or by opting in to Amazon Grocery text alerts.

Do you have to be a Prime member to win?

No. While the upcoming Prime Day sales event from June 23-26 is exclusively for Prime members, the “Free Groceries for a Year” sweepstakes is open to anyone with a standard Amazon account. No active Prime membership or purchase is required if you enter manually.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2026?

Amazon confirmed that Prime Day will take place from Tuesday, June 23 to Friday, June 26.

What kind of deals can you expect on Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day usually has discounts in almost every category, including:

    • Tech: Laptops, Headphones, Smart TVs and Tablets
    • Amazon devices: Echo speakers, Fire TV, Kindle, and Ring products
    • Home & Outdoors: Gardening Tools, Lawn Equipment, Bedding & Storage
    • Beauty & Fashion: Skin care, hair tools and everyday basics

Do you need a Prime membership to shop on Prime Day?

Yes. Amazon Prime Day deals are only for Prime members. Prime membership includes free two-day (and often same-day) shipping, access to Prime Video and Prime Music, and early access to Prime Day deals.

If you’re not currently a member, Amazon usually offers free trials and discounted memberships before Prime Day:

    • Amazon Prime for Young Adults: Ages 18-24 can get a six-month free trial, then $7.49 per month.
    • Prime Access: If you receive SNAP, EBT, Medicaid or other eligible government assistance, you may be eligible for a discounted Prime membership.
