The US said on Sunday it targeted Iranian forces that attacked Jordan last week, in an attack that left two American service members dead and one missing.

Kuwait reported launching defenses against another wave of Iranian projectiles overnight.

The weekend developments further jeopardized last month’s fragile conflict between the two sides, potentially raising new concerns over oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command said it has completed eighth consecutive night Attacks on Iranian targets.

“CENTCOM forces successfully attacked Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to degrade Iranian military capabilities,” a post on X said.

“U.S. military assets also targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces, who launched attacks against U.S. service members in Jordan on July 17,” it added.

US President Donald Trump ordered military forces to begin new airstrikes beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday to “degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz” and to “punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that launched attacks against US service members in Jordan last night.” According to CENTCOM.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on Saturday that the country has suspended its commitments to a memorandum of understanding signed with the United States last month.

“The United States has violated and suspended all of its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,” he said. “We have also suspended our commitments; we are not implementing them and are busy defending our country.”

When asked whether Iran was saying it was no longer abiding by the interim peace agreement, Trump said a newsnation reporter“I couldn’t care less.”

The memorandum of understanding signed by the US and Iran last month continued amid the latest round of fighting, with both sides carrying out targeted airstrikes in the region. The interim agreement was intended to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and end the conflict.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said the country had “unforgettable lessons” for the US.

“Now that the US enemy wants to provoke war and pay a heavy price, it should know that the Iranian nation and the resistance front have #unforgettable_lesson There’s more in store for this,” Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting said in a message. Khamenei on X.

Khamenei said repeated US attacks showed that Trump’s signature on the memorandum of understanding is “completely worthless and devoid of credibility.”

The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

According to MS Now, the deaths of two additional US military service members in Jordan join 14 other service members previously confirmed killed in action since the war began with US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.

Trump, in a telephone interview NewsNation Reportercalled the deaths of the two service members “very sad, it’s a very sad thing.”

“We hate to see this happen. It’s in the service of our country,” and he reiterated his pledge that the US “will never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.”

    ‘Godspeed Hero’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth express reaction To the deaths at X: “Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only strengthens our resolve.”

On Saturday, the IRGC said it blocked four ships as they attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under US protection.

And Iran continued to target regional neighbors.

Kuwait said on Sunday that its air defense is facing threats Missile and drone attacks By Iran.

Despite the new attacks, Trump has insisted the war with Iran is going well, saying in a primetime address to the American public on Thursday: “We’re having big victories in Iran as well, and you’ll see the fruits of that hard work very soon.”

The US President had threatened to attack Iran’s bridges and power plants in the coming weeks if Iran refused to return to the negotiating table.
