Trump’s comments true social This is largely a continuation of the status quo from Saturday, when Trump said a deal with Iran was “substantially negotiated.” Trump said “time is on our side” to end the nearly three-month-old conflict that has roiled global energy markets and sent gasoline prices soaring in the US.
“Negotiations are progressing in an orderly and constructive manner and I have informed my representatives not to rush into an agreement at this time,” Trump said in a social media post. “Both parties must take their time and get it right. There can be no mistakes!”
The president said the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports would remain in effect until “an agreement is reached, ratified, and signed.”
According to MS Now, the deal being negotiated would open the Strait of Hormuz, end hostilities, free up some Iranian assets and guarantee further negotiations to curb Tehran’s nuclear program.
Trump said in a Truth Social post that Iran “must understand, however, that they cannot develop or purchase nuclear weapons or bombs.”
