Under newly updated legislation the Senate is considering, presidents and other federal officials would be banned from issuing or sponsoring cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
Republicans on Wednesday updated a measure already under consideration — known as the Clarity Act — that would be the first major legislation regulating digital assets. CNBC obtained the bill text, which now includes the first limits on how the president can profit from crypto.
