Methodology: For this study, GOBankingRates analyzed cities with at least 5,000 households (derived from the US Census 2024 and the 2014 American Community Survey). The 50 suburbs with the highest median household income in both 2024 and 2014 were singled out. Median home value was obtained from the Zillow Home Value Index for January 2026 and January 2016. If the suburb was not listed on the Zillow Home Value Index, the ZIP code making up the suburb was used or, in the case of 2016, was omitted. To qualify for this study, the city must have at least 5,000 households and be part of a metropolitan statistical area, but not a major city, a city designated in the MSA’s title. Suburbs were ranked first to show the highest median household income, representing America’s wealthiest suburbs. All data was collected on February 24, 2026 and is up to date.
