Chicago, April 27, 2026–(business telegram)–Northern Trust Wealth Management has appointed Beata Kir as Chief Investment Officer of the Global Family Office (GFO).
Kier will oversee investment strategy for GFO, leading portfolio construction and providing investment insight to ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices. GFO is the fastest growing segment of Wealth Management, serving over 550 clients with an average net worth in excess of US$1 billion.

Kir most recently served as Managing Director and Chief Impact Officer at The Copia Group, a private credit firm providing direct lending. Prior to Copia, Kier spent 17 years at Bernstein Private Wealth Management, including as Co-Chief Investment Officer and National Managing Director. During that time, he broadened investment offerings, deepened asset allocation advice, and advanced thought leadership and innovation. Early in his career, he held roles at Aurora LLC (formerly Harris Alternatives) and Goldman Sachs.
Kir is active in governance and philanthropic leadership where she can increase her investing impact. For nearly three years, Kier served as an independent director and chair of the nominating/governance committee for Nomura’s Active ETFs Delaware Trust. She is a board member and investment committee member at the Poetry Foundation and Temple Sukkat Sholom. She had previously worked in a similar capacity at Mahila Nilayya.
Kier holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
