As the sun rises over the Pacific Ocean, the sky lights up with different colors, gradually changing from pink, purple and orange to bright blue.

It’s a six-hour drive from Las Lajas. Panama City. The quicker option is to fly from Panama City to David – which takes about an hour – and from there drive an hour to Las Lajas.
If you’re planning to visit or visit here, you’ll want to have your own transportation, especially if you plan regular trips to the beach which is a little more than four miles from the city’s downtown area.
The town center has a hardware store, several small grocery stores, a few restaurants, and a school. The neighborhoods extend away from the main road. The houses built on tree-lined streets are painted in rainbow colors.
Life in Las Lajas is quiet but friendly. It’s a place where people know their neighbors and dogs walk down the street without fear of oncoming traffic.

There is a thriving migratory community here – they include good numbers of Canadian snowbirds.
cost of living It is generally much lower here than in the US or Canada. Home prices are a bit higher in Las Lajas than some other cities in Panama due to supply and demand (especially on the beach), but the daily cost of living is a bargain.
Las Lajas is famous for its beach where you can enjoy boogie boarding, surfing, paddle boarding, swimming, whale watching, snorkeling or fishing.
Back on dry land, head to one of the local resorts for cocktails as the sun sets. For a less formal happy hour, check out Johnny’s Fiesta, right on the beach, with beautiful views and $1 beers.
Speaking Spanish is a definite advantage here, but don’t worry if you don’t; In Las Lajas, you will be able to get by without great language skills.
There are many advantages to a small town, but one of the most important for expats may be that time slows down. Everyone is laid-back and looking to make new friends.
This gives non-Spanish speakers the opportunity to practice the Spanish they know and learn along the way.
