Check your bathroom cabinet, because CVS Health has recalled thousands of medicated hemorrhoid wipes due to the lack of child-resistant packaging.
The Rhode Island-based retailer recalled more than 75,000 boxes of medicated hemorrhoid wipes on July 2 because they did not feature child-resistant packaging, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, wipes must have this packaging because they contain lidocaine, which can cause serious injury or even death to a baby if swallowed.
As of July 2, CVS was not aware of any injuries related to the recall.
Here’s what you need to know about the recall of medicated wipes.
Which CVS wipes are recalled?
This recall affects CVS Health’s Rapid Pain Relief Medicated Hemorrhoidal Wipes.
According to the CPSC, the pain-relieving wipes were sold in boxes of 20 individually wrapped packets of flushable wipes. Each wipe was 6 inches by 4 inches in size. The front of the box had the CVS Health logo and a yellow heart printed on it.
When and where were the recalled CVS wipes sold?
According to the CPSC, the recalled wipes were sold for $16 at CVS and CVS Pharmacy stores nationwide and online between April 2020 and April 2026.
What to do if you have recalled CVS wipes
According to the CPSC, keep medicated wipes out of the sight and reach of children and contact CVS for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to return unopened packets of wipes along with the packaging.
Consumers with questions can contact CVS (email protected) or call 800-746-7287 Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 7 pm ET and Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm ET. More information is also available at cvs.com/retail/help/recalls.
