Since 1923, Disney has been creating some of the most memorable movies, characters, and experiences for the entire world, which means there are plenty of pieces of memorabilia from over the last 100 years that can be redeemed and make some money if you can find them.
Here are five classic Disney collectibles that are worth a lot.
1. ‘Fantasia’ movie poster from the 1940s
There are so many iconic images and scenes in the movie “Fantasia” that it’s hard to pick one that stands out above the others. However, film posters from the original release are some of the most sought-after Disney memorabilia due to their rarity.
According to websites like The Gamer, if you find one, you can easily get a few hundred dollars or as much as $8,000.
2. Black Diamond VHS Tape
If you’ve been a Disney fan for the past four decades, chances are you’ve purchased a VHS tape of your favorite movie or TV show. Double check the label to see if it has a black diamond with the words “The Classics” in white letters on its spine.
If so, you may be able to sell it for thousands of dollars. In 2024, The Gamer reported a set of ten Black Diamond VHS Disney tapes sold for $41,000 on eBay.
3. Walt Disney’s World War I Sketchbook
Anything that was Walt Disney’s personal item will definitely fetch a lot of money at auction, one of those items is his sketchbooks used during World War I. This sketchbook contains the seeds of the imagination for what Disney would eventually become.
It was sold at auction in 2020 for $75,000.
4. Trail of the Unicorn Limousine Sculpture
Originally sold by Disney in 1996, this statue depicts Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and his nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie riding in a stretch limo. This is not a small collectible and can take up a good chunk of shelf space.
Gamer reported finding a listing worth $162,000.
5. Prop Dumbo from the Flying Elephant Ride
Anyone who likes not only Disney but Disney amusement parks may be interested in the Dumbo car, one of the props on the ride. Just be prepared to pay a significant amount for this collectible item. According to Reuters, one of these flying elephant props was auctioned for $483,000 in 2018.
