A new warehouse retailer poised to take on Costco and Sam’s Club is expanding in Texas.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is opening its first location in Forney, Texas on Friday, April 24 — although according to a news release, the store is celebrating the launch with $2 gas on Wednesday, April 22 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Massachusetts-based company plans to open three more Texas clubs in the coming weeks, in Waxahachie, Southwest Fort Worth and Grand Prairie.
“BJ’s Wholesale Club has been providing members unmatched value and convenience for more than 40 years,” said Bob Eddy, President and CEO of BJ’s Wholesale Club. “Launching our Texas operations is a milestone for our company, and we know our model of saving up to 25% off grocery store prices every day will resonate with families in Forney and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”
The club is offering a limited-time membership for $20 for one year, which includes a 10¢ discount per gallon at BJ Gas for the first six months after each club opens.

According to its website, the company has 263 clubs across the country and eight million members.
BJ gas prices of
BJ’s claims it offers the lowest gas prices, saving members 10 cents per gallon on qualifying products purchased at the club or online – called “fuel saver items”.
The new Forney location is offering members $2 gas for one day only – Wednesday, April 22 from 6am to 6pm.
