AT&T is raising the monthly administrative fee on phone bills next month.
The telecom company is increasing the monthly cost of its administrative and regulatory cost recovery fees by $1, starting Aug. 5, according to the AT&T Mobility fee schedule on the AT&T website.
The fee helps AT&T recover expenses such as interconnection fees with other providers and certain government fees, such as wireless tower mandate costs, state consumer privacy laws, public rights of way acquisition costs and federal privacy-related mandate costs, the website outlines.
USA TODAY contacted AT&T for comment on July 14 about the fee increases.
