Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 179,000 vehicles over a defect in the front seat frame that could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

According to an April 28 notice published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, the recall affects 62,255 2024–2026 Ford Bronco SUVs and 117,443 2024–2026 Ford Ranger pickup trucks.

The problem likely stems from a loose or dislocated seat frame height-adjust pivot bolt in the front seats. If the bolt becomes dislodged, the seat will not be able to properly restrain the occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury, the agency said.

    Which vehicles are being recalled?

According to the notice, 179,698 vehicles are affected, including:

    • 2024-2026 Ford Broncos
    • 2024-2026 Ford Rangers

What to do if you have a recalled vehicle?

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the front seat components and replace pivot links and bolts as necessary, free of charge.

Ford plans to send interim notification letters to affected owners by May 11, informing them of the safety risk. A second round of letters will be sent once the final measures are available, which is expected to be in July.

Owners can contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332. The company’s internal recall number is 26S30.

Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) associated with the recalls became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 30. Owners can also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
