According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, FCA US LLC is recalling more than 60,000 vehicles in the United States due to power transfer unit failure.

According to the recall notice posted by NHTSA, a failed power transfer unit could result in a loss of drive power or cause the vehicle to roll, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

The total number of vehicles affected by this recall is 61,711.

Here’s what to know about the models included in the recall and what car owners can do to fix the problem.

Which models are included in the recall?

The recall involves certain 2019-2023 Jeep Cherokee vehicles.

    What should car owners do

NHTSA says the solution is currently under development; However, an interim owner notification letter explaining the safety risks is expected to be mailed on June 25, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once final resolution is available.

Owners can contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403. The company’s recall number is 40D.
