The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a digital ad campaign Tuesday taking aim at President Donald Trump and Republicans over rising gas prices amid the war in Iran.

The six-second ad, which was first shared with CNBC, shows the price of a gas pump going up and the final image reads, “DC Republicans Did That!” ads will continue meta The platforms are geo-targeted to show audiences when they are at or near gas stations on Facebook and Instagram and in all 44 of DCCC’s states.districts in game”

“Another day, another broken promise from Trump and House Republicans,” DCCC communications director Courtney Rice said in a statement. “Now, when voters hit the pump, they will get another reminder that D.C. Republicans are solely to blame for gas prices and everything else being so high.”

Both Democrats and Republicans have made domestic potency a top priority in the lead up to the crucial 2026 midterm elections, as the GOP looks to defend its narrow majority. In the House, Democrats need just three seats to take control of the chamber.

But the war in Iran, which Trump started on Feb. 28, has complicated the issue for Republicans, as oil prices have soared and the stock market has faltered. The Democrats have attacked.

“Trump tariffs. Health insurance costs. Gas prices. ICE brutality. Reckless wars. Republicans have made America much less affordable and much more dangerous. How’s that Golden Age thing working?”. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., Posted on x On Monday.

Trump has not outlined any clear end point to the war and as recently as Friday said he was not ready for a ceasefire. However, he announced this on Monday true social He ordered US forces to halt attacks on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days.

In response, US stock futures rose, the dollar fell against other major currencies and oil prices fell.

But gas prices remain high because the Strait of Hormuz, the key shipping lane for most of the world’s oil trade, is effectively closed. As of Monday, the national average gas price was $3.96 a gallon, up from $2.94 a month earlier, according to the . aaa. The Trump administration and other Republicans have urged patience.

“Certainly, the goal is to bring them down as quickly as possible. But my appeal to the American people is that we have been under threat for 47 years from Iran, which has artificially inflated energy prices for decades,” U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on Monday. “We are going through a short-term period of disruption right now, but the long-term benefits will be huge.”

The ad will run in 23 states across the country where the DCCC — the political committee that works to get Democratic candidates elected to the House — has targeted districts. Those states include California, where gas is approaching $6 a gallon, and Alaska and Arizona, where it is above $4.50 a gallon.
