Walmart has opened a $350 million milk processing facility in Texas that will create hundreds of jobs.
The more than 300,000-square-foot facility opened in Robinson, south of Waco, on April 29, and will supply milk to more than 650 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs in the south-central U.S., according to a Walmart news release.
The release said the milk will be sourced directly from local dairy farmers, and processed and bottled in a variety of options for Walmart’s Great Value and Sam’s Club member’s mark brands — including gallon, half-gallon, whole, 2%, 1%, skim and 1% chocolate milk.
“The opening of our new facility in Robinson, Texas will help us provide our customers with what they want – fresh, affordable food and quality they can count on,” said John Laney, executive vice president, Food, Walmart US.
The facility had a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 29 with local dignitaries, including Robinson’s mayor, Greg May.
“This is an incredible facility. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them,” May wrote on Facebook.
The Robinson plant is Walmart’s third owned-and-operated milk-processing facility and will create more than 400 new jobs, the news release said.
