President Donald Trump said Thursday that if Iran is charging oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, it “better stop now.”
Trump’s warning in one satya social post Even more pressure has been put on the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran, reached less than two days after the agreement.
Trump said Tuesday evening that the United States would agree to a two-week suspension of hostilities against the Islamic Republic on the condition that it agree to the “full, immediate and secure opening of the Strait of Hormuz.”
But ship traffic through the strait, a vital artery for about 20% of the world’s oil supply, remains tightly suppressed, as it has been since the war began on Feb. 28.
