President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that US military forces would remain deployed in and around Iran until Tehran fully complied with the “real deal”, warning that any violation would trigger a larger military response than anything seen before.
“All U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel…will remain in and around Iran until full compliance with the actual agreement is achieved,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“If for whatever reason that doesn’t happen…’shooting’ begins, bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before.”
Trump reiterated that it was agreed that Iran would not develop nuclear weapons, and that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open and safe for commercial shipping.
“Meanwhile our great Army is marching forward and resting, literally waiting for its next victory,” Trump said.
He ended the post published around midnight with the announcement: “America is back!”
The statement came a day after Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, halting six weeks of fighting and sparking a brief relief rally in global markets amid growing optimism that energy flows could resume in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran said safe passage through the strait would be possible but would be subject to coordination with its armed forces.
