President Donald Trump on Friday referred to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil-shipping route and a key choke point in the Iran war, as the “Strait of Trump.”

“Iran has to open up Trump’s strait – I mean, Hormuz,” the president said in a speech at the Future Investment Initiative in Miami.

“Sorry. I’m so sorry. Such a terrible mistake,” he said, pretending to apologize before clarifying, “The fake news will say, ‘She said it by mistake’ – no, I haven’t had an accident, not too much. If there was, we’d have a big story.”

The comments come as it has emerged as a major source of conflict in the Straits War, which is set to enter its second month, while the US claims it has “destroyed” Iran’s military.

Iran’s continued ability to effectively blockade the strait – blocking the route that normally transports 20 million oil barrels per day – has contributed to historic disruptions in global energy supplies and prices.

On Monday, Trump raised the possibility that the strait could be jointly controlled by “me and the Ayatollah” as part of a resolution to the war.

Trump has since said that Iran is in talks with the US and is “begging” for a deal, although Tehran has denied that any direct talks are taking place.

The New York Post, citing sources, said, informed On Friday evening, Trump is considering taking control of the strait and naming it after himself or calling it “America’s Strait,” as he has previously sought to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

Friday’s “Straight of Trump” quip came from a president who has made his name as a businessman and real estate mogul a central feature of his branding.

This also resonates satya social post From October, in which the President appeared to mock the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington using his name.

The post included photos of renovations being done to the building’s exterior, with a caption praising “the new Trump Kennedy, oops, I mean, Kennedy Center, columns.”

In December, the White House announced that the board of the Kennedy Center voted to rename it the “Trump–Kennedy Center”.
