Two mysterious videos posted to the White House’s official A video was later removed.
The first video, posted at about 9:15 a.m. EST, appears to have been filmed on a smartphone, with the camera pointed at someone’s feet. In the four-second long video, a woman’s voice can be heard asking, “It’s launching soon, right?”
A line of text on the screen says “Sound on.” The video was removed from the White House accounts on Twitter and Instagram about 90 minutes after it was posted.
The second short video was posted at 10 pm EST, showing a black, static screen with a phone notification sound playing. The American flag was visible in one frame. The post included emojis of a smartphone and a sound.
There was no indication of context for the post, which garnered millions of views, with many online commentators theorizing that the accounts could have been hacked or that an official was secretly stirring something up.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It was not immediately clear whether the videos were posted intentionally. These posts follow earlier examples of Trump administration White House social media accounts sharing meme-style content.
