Toyota is recalling more than 140,000 Lexus vehicles, according to a notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The reason for the recall of Lexus vehicles is due to a defect in the vehicle’s rearview camera, which the notice says “failed to display when the vehicle is in reverse.” According to NHTSA, the recall affects a total of an estimated 144,200 vehicles.

The recall notice continued, “A rearview image that is not displayed reduces the driver’s view of the rear of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”

According to the notice, owners of the affected models are expected to receive notification letters on May 3. Affected vehicles will receive a free update or rearview camera replacement from dealers.

How to Search for a Car Recall

Car owners can search NHTSA’s database for recalls based on their vehicle identification number or VIN.

USA TODAY’s recall database also includes information on car, food, drug and other recall products.

Which Lexus vehicles are affected by the recall?

According to the notice, the following Lexus vehicles are included in the recall:

    • 2022-2025 Lexus NX350
    • 2022-2025 Lexus NX250
    • 2023-2026 RX350
    • 2024-2026 TX350

The recall from Toyota comes just days after the same automaker announced that more than 550,000 cars were being recalled due to seatback defects that could increase the risk of injuries.

A March 5 recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that “the second row seat back may fail to lock into the position during seat back adjustment.”

The agency noted that this problem could have prevented the occupant from being properly restrained in a high-speed collision scenario.
