According to a recent news AARP survey7% of retirees are “unretired”, of which 48% admitted that they have returned to the labor force to earn money. 2025 American Retirement Survey Schroders revealed that 62% of Americans don’t know how long their retirement savings will last and 25% of retirees admitted they lose sleep over their finances.
It’s clear that Americans over 60 are looking for ways to earn more money as they try to keep a lid on inflation. Luckily, if you want to speed up your retirement savings or bring some money to improve your lifestyle, there are a few other things to consider.

Kiplinger Business coaching has been listed as the best program for seniors because companies are willing to pay for insights on budgeting, operational needs, and general strategic advice. Pay is listed between $100 to $200 per hour, with some levels reaching $1,000.
Matt Barry, CEO freelancer.comnoted that there are side-hustle job categories that particularly reward experience and are not too difficult for older workers to get into. There are currently 1,613 projects for business analytics on the platform with an average price of $398.

If you want to do small tasks at your convenience in your free time, you can explore platforms like Taskrabbit, where you assign random tasks based on your location and capabilities. GOBankingRates spoke to a Taskrabbit representative, who explained that seniors are making money by leveraging their skills.
The source said $48 an hour could be paid for furniture assembly, $60 for TV mounting and $40 for cleaning. The amount you earn will depend on the demand in your community and the type of services you can provide.
home repair
If you grew up in an era where you had to fix things yourself, you may be able to turn your passion for DIY projects into home repair work. The type of work you do will depend on your skills and what you can offer to your community. For example, the condo may need simple maintenance like replacing air filters and fire alarms. When it comes to homes, you can offer to fix decks, work on a shed, or even get certified as a home inspector.
ZipRecruiter The hourly rate for home repair and maintenance is listed at $31 per hour, but the rate will depend on the services you provide. You can register on established platforms like Taskrabbit or advertise your services in local social media groups.
