As time passes, new cars are released while older cars are discontinued. But some vehicles find a way to last for a very long time, even decades. If vehicles continue to sell and customers remain satisfied, automakers will do everything they can to keep them in the lineup. Here are the oldest models that can be purchased brand new in the United States.
Ford Mustang – 1963
The Mustang is currently in its sixth generation and is still powered by its signature V8 engine. The stick shift option is still available for those who want the classic Mustang experience behind the wheel.
porsche 911-1963
The Porsche 911 has prioritized sharp handling and attractive styling since its inception. After 63 years, the 911 is still one of the best drivers can buy.
chevrolet corvette – 1953
The Corvette is one of the most important vehicles in American car culture. After several decades of improvements, they are now some of the most powerful vehicles you can buy and perform well beyond their price.
Toyota Corolla – 1966
2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the Toyota Corolla. The car was introduced in 1966 and brought to the US in 1968. It has always been a major focus of affordability and reliability.
Toyota Land Cruiser – 1951
The Land Cruiser was first sold in the US in 1958, before being discontinued in 2021. The off-roading cruiser plans to keep the lineage alive, making a comeback in 2024.
Ford F-Series – 1948
The best-selling car in the United States has been with us for a long time. The original Ford F-1 pickup truck that came out in 1948 was popular at the time and nothing has changed to the present day.
chevrolet suburban – 1935
The original Chevrolet Suburban Carryall was released in 1935 and was the predecessor of the first SUV. The name was shortened to simply Suburban and the nameplate is still shared with GMC today. Every year suburbanites stick around, they begin to take up more space on the street.
Rolls-Royce Phantom – 1925
By far the oldest and most expensive vehicle on this list. The Phantom I was first released in 1925 and has been the king of luxury cars for over 100 years. The Phantom has taken a few hiatuses over the last century but always finds a way back into the British automaker’s lineup.
