President Donald Trump said Monday that White House chief of staff Susie Wills has been diagnosed with “early-stage breast cancer” but remains committed to her work during treatment.
Trump said in a statement that Wills, 68, has decided to take up this challenge immediately, rather than wait. satya social post Disclosure of diagnosis.
Her prognosis is “excellent” and she will “spend virtually all of my time in the White House,” Trump said in the post.
He said, “Her strength and her commitment to continue doing the work she loves, and that she does so well even during treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her.”
The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for additional information on Wills.
Wills oversaw Trump’s victorious 2024 presidential campaign and had a major impact in his second administration.
While Wills is often seen with Trump at public events, Wills rarely speaks on camera or gives on-the-record interviews. However, he participated in a series of interviews with Vanity Fair in 2025, which revealed extremely candid assessments of Trump and his top aides.
He told the outlet, among other things, that Trump has an “alcohol-like personality” and said he has engaged in legal “retaliation” against his enemies as president.
After the interview was published in December, Trump said he stood by Wills and several top administration officials jumped to her defense when she attacked Vanity Fair. Wills himself called the articles “hit pieces”.
