Best Buy has recalled thousands of Insignia front control gas ranges, warning consumers that the appliances are a fire hazard and can cause serious injury.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after Best Buy said the affected gas ranges could be turned on inadvertently by people or pets. The company has received one report of a knob being activated by accidental contact, but no injuries have been reported, according to the recall notice.
The recall affects approximately 3,820 Insignia Front Control gas ranges sold in the United States, as well as an additional 700 units sold in Canada. The recalled devices were available at Best Buy stores nationwide and online from November 2020 to March 2026 for between $280 and $1,470.

The recall involves Insignia front control gas ranges with the following model numbers:
The recalled gas ranges are stainless steel and have five front-mounted knobs above the oven door. The “Insignia” label is visible on the bottom of the oven door.
Consumers can find the model number on a label inside the bottom drawer of the range. Insignia is a Best Buy brand.
What should consumers do?
Consumers covered by the recall should immediately stop using the appliances and visit Best Buy’s recall website to confirm whether their model is affected.
After confirming that their range is included, consumers will receive a free set of compatible knob covers along with installation instructions.
Best Buy is advising consumers to keep children and pets away from knobs, check that knobs are turned off before leaving the house or going to bed and avoid placing items on the range when not in use.
