Investing in Nvidia a decade ago would have yielded returns of nearly 21,000%. However, that kind of profit required a big bet on the company at a time when it was largely viewed as a crypto-adjacent stock and AI chips were still on the horizon.
During that period a young investor poured money into the stock and turned it into a $20 million position. He is now retired at the age of 20 and also does some consulting work. Recently, he shared how he sees this opportunity – and where he believes the next big investment opportunity may be found.
what to look for in stock
Nvidia appeared in Investor One Whop On The Street Video In which host Josh Suggs asked Wall Street millionaires how to get rich. A former software engineer, the investor said he has focused on stocks that he believes can rise over the next 10 to 15 years.
Nvidia made it onto their radar because everyone in academia was talking about the chip maker. He saw it as a company that could bring AI to life. Some people knew that cracking the AI code could yield tremendous wealth, and instead of building the next Nvidia, the investor bought Nvidia stock. He didn’t even need to invest $100,000 to reach eight figures, seeing over 21,000% returns over the last decade.
Nvidia wasn’t the only stock he bought, but it was the only stock mentioned in the interview. The investor suggested sticking with an ETF that mirrors the S&P 500 if you’re just starting out, but his story highlights how you can grow wealth fast by picking the right stocks.

The investor pointed to quantum computing as the next major opportunity that Nvidia could produce next. He cited a recent breakthrough involving Google’s Willow chip, which brought quantum computing closer to real-world applications.
He suggested investing in quantum computing ETFs, noting that even if not every company is successful, one or more holdings could emerge as the industry’s breakout winner.
Quantum computing has the potential to solve some problems much faster than classical computing. However, the technology is still prone to errors. Once those challenges are resolved, quantum computing could see a faster path to mainstream adoption — in the same way that advanced semiconductor chips helped bring AI into everyday use.
Investors should do thorough research before purchasing quantum computing stocks. IonQ, Righetti Computing and D-Wave Quantum are among the best-known companies in this field. They remain speculative but could accelerate if quantum computing is successfully commercialized.
Long term discipline builds wealth
As the interview concluded, the Nvidia investor shared some advice for young professionals. He cites discipline as key to achieving long-term financial freedom and believes everyone should invest 20% of their salary.
“Make sure you’re withdrawing money every month,” he said.
The Nvidia investor also said that this is the best time to invest. It’s easy to learn about funds, companies, sectors and the stock market as a whole. Information is available at our fingertips, and learning a little about the stock market every day can help you spot attractive long-term opportunities before most investors notice them.
