Most pet parents playfully tell their fur children that they need to get a job and contribute to the daily expenses of life. Well, now you have the chance to make that dream a reality.
Purina announced on July 6 that applications for its Purina Puppy Chow and Purina Kitten Chow Chiefs are officially open.
The pet food brand is looking for a kitten and a puppy to serve as honorary brand ambassadors and help spread the word about healthy eating.
For all their hard work, each new employee will receive a “salary” of $25,000, while $10,000 will be donated to a shelter in their hometown.
According to a news release shared by the company, “The 2026 Chief Snuggle Officer will lead the charge in promoting good nutrition, growth and lots of play.”
While no prior executive experience is required, candidates should be well-versed in “relaxation distribution, cross-functional cudgel collaboration, and consistent performance in high-stress situations (i.e., Mondays), Purina said.

How to Apply for Purina Chief Snuggle Officer
Interested applicants can apply on Purina’s website from now until July 17. Eligible puppies and kittens must be under 12 months of age, or 24 months of age for large breed puppies.
Application contents include:
- a photo of a pet
- a video
- A brief resume explaining why they are qualified for the job
Three puppies and three kittens will be chosen as finalists, and then it will be up to the American public to decide through a voting system who gets the job. Voting will start from August 17. Two winners, a puppy and a kitten, will be announced in early October.
Nurture and love make up the title of Chief Snuggle Officer
That $25,000 salary is no mean feat. Purina’s Chief Snuggles Officer will be responsible for providing good nutrition and lots of love, two of the most important parts of a puppy or kitten’s formative years.
“The majority of puppies and kittens’ growth occurs in their first 12 months – making it one of the most important periods of their lives,” said Purina veterinarian Dr. Kelly Harris. “And beyond nutrition, play time, training and rest are equally important – they help build confidence, improve social skills and strengthen the bond between pet and owner.”
