President Donald Trump cheered on Sunday FIFA’s decision US men’s national team striker’s one-game suspension to be overturned Folarin BalogunDue to which he was allowed to play in Monday’s World Cup match against Belgium.
Balogun received a controversial red card in the U.S.’s 2-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday.
This usually results in an immediate one-game suspension without appeal. But the international football governing body overturned the suspension on Sunday.

fifa, in a statement Sunday said: “By operation of Article 27 FDC, the implementation of the automatic match suspension for USA player Folarin Balogun has been suspended for a probationary period of one (1) year.”
Balogun is one US citizen by birth Who grew up in the United Kingdom.
Trump lost a case challenging birthright citizenship in the Supreme Court last week, with a majority of justices ruling that individuals born in the US are American citizens. Trump issued an executive order last year that sought to sharply restrict birthright citizenship.
