Financial influencer and entrepreneur Haley Sachs, known to some as “Mrs. Dow Jones”, gained attention when she announced on her official Instagram that Americans should freeze their credit immediately.

6 Ways to Increase a Low Credit Score

wonder why sack recommended Freezing Your Credit Right Now? Read on to find out.

    Why Freeze Your Credit Now?

“The US is at war with Iran and what most people miss is that physical war in 2026 is always going to be coupled with cyber warfare,” Sachs said.

Actually, according to 2025 Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center According to the (FS-ISAC) report, during both the 2024 Hamas-Israel and Russia-Ukraine wars, DDoS attacks on the financial services industry increased.

Sachs explained that a credit freeze locks your credit file so that no one — not even you — can open a new loan or credit card until you unfreeze it.

How to Freeze Your Credit in 3 Easy Steps

    1. Go online to each of the three credit bureaus: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian.
    2. Create separate free accounts for all three.
    3. On each, find the option that says, “Security Freeze.” Then click and confirm – that’s all.

If you need access to credit at any time, you can always log in and melt the freeze temporarily. And, no, freezing and/or unfreezing your credit has no effect on your credit score. Additionally, Sachs warned that the credit bureaus will likely try to sell you on a credit lock paid subscription.

“Don’t fall for it,” said Sachs, who explained that a credit freeze is your right under federal law.
