With the ongoing uproar over rising gas prices, here’s a timely deal: Circle K is cutting gas prices by 40 cents on Thursday, May 7.

Circle K, which has more than 5,000 convenience stores in 29 states, is offering customers up to 40 cents off each gallon of fuel on May 7 as part of its National Fuel Day program. You can get the discount from 4PM to 7PM local time at participating locations. Discounts are good on all types of fuel.

Members of its Inner Circle loyalty program can get the deal early on Thursday from 12:01 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time. Discounts up to 40 cents are subject to applicable state law. For example, according to Circle K, customers in Wisconsin can save up to $4.50 with a minimum purchase of 3 gallons.

Another reason to become an Inner Circle member: The Fuel Your Summer Sweepstakes, which gives you the chance to win one of 250 Circle K gift cards – each worth $315 – to help pay for your gasoline this summer. Winners will be selected weekly through July 4th. Visit the Circle K website for more information and entry.

These events are part of the Circle’s celebration of the country’s 250th birthday. Also part of the promotion are a $2.50 budget car wash and a $2.50 meal deal: a Roller Grill item paired with a Polar Pop or a 7.5-ounce Coca-Cola brand beverage (both deals are good all summer long).

“America only turns 250 once, but our commitment to providing real value to our customers continues every day,” Lewis Warner, Circle K’s executive vice president, North America operations, said in a news release. “At Circle K, every trip matters, and this summer, we’re showing up with real, tangible savings in fuel, food and more to make every stop a little more affordable for the people who rely on us.”

This discount is available when the national average for a gallon of gas reaches close to $5.

Circle K has regularly offered the 40 percent price cut Fuel Day promotion throughout the year, including before holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

How to Join the Inner Circle of Circle K

By joining the Inner Circle loyalty program, you have a big window on May 7 to get a National Fuel Day deal. To create an account, you can visit the Circle K website or download the Circle K app. You can also send JOIN to 25050 on your phone.

Ten percent of National Fuel Day profits on May 7 from 4-7 p.m. will be donated to the Children of the Fallen Patriots Foundation, a non-profit that provides college scholarships to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Customers can also donate in stores.

In-store donations from customers and PepsiCo’s donations are aimed to raise a total of $250,000.
